FAQs

What are your hours?

I currently work by appointment only, which means I can often be flexible to fit your schedule. Just reach out and we’ll find a time that works for both of us!

Do I need to sign anything?

Yes. During our first appointment, I’ll provide a short service agreement. It just outlines safety expectations, emergency protocols, and policies for things like cancellations. It’s quick, simple, and helps keep everyone on the same page.

What is in the Service Agreement?

The agreement includes information about your pet’s medical and behavior history, what to expect during appointments, policies around cancellations and rescheduling, emergency procedures if your pet needs urgent care, and more. It’s designed to protect both you and your pet and I’m happy to answer any questions about it.

Where do you travel to?

I’m based in Scappoose and serve clients in the Portland, Hillsboro, St. Helens, and surrounding areas. Travel fees apply for areas outside my immediate zone to help cover gas and time on the road. Check out the “How It Works” section on the Services page for more information.

Do you need to come into my home?

In most cases, yes, but only as much as you’re comfortable with. Many services require access to your pet in a calm, familiar environment, which often means working inside your home. That said, I’m happy to work outdoors, in a garage, or another space you prefer, as long as it’s safe and comfortable for your pet. My goal is to make this as stress-free as possible, for both you and your animals.

Will I need to help hold my pet during the appointment?

In some cases, yes! I work independently, so having an extra set of hands—especially for larger or nervous pets—can make the experience smoother and safer for everyone. Most pets feel more at ease with their trusted human nearby and your gentle presence can help them stay calm. I’ll always guide you on how best to assist if needed and we’ll take things at your pet’s pace. If you’re unable to help, just let me know in advance, we may be able to adjust the setup, schedule an extra support person, or choose a bundle that works better for your situation.

Will your child be with you during appointments?

Yes. I’m a stay-at-home mom and my daughter (a fellow animal lover!) comes with me. She’s respectful, curious, and understands how to stay out of the way while I focus on your pet’s care. It’s part of what makes this business personal and family-centered.

Are you a veterinarian?

No, I’m not a veterinarian. I don’t offer medical diagnoses or treatments. I’m a former veterinary assistant and wildlife biologist, offering low-stress wellness and maintenance services like nail trims, ear cleaning, and more—all done in the comfort of your own home.

What kind of pets do you work with?

I specialize in dogs and cats, but I also have experience with rabbits, reptiles, birds, and small mammals (in fact, I’ve previously owned all of these species personally). If you have a unique pet, feel free to ask; I might be able to help or point you in the right direction.

How do I pay?

I accept cash or credit/debit card payments via Square. Payments must be made at the time of service.

What is your cancellation policy?

Per my Service Agreement: Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may incur a $15 cancellation fee. Likewise, if no one is present at the scheduled appointment time and services cannot be performed, a $20 no-show fee may be applied.

Do you offer emergency or last minute appointments?

I can occasionally accommodate same-day or last-minute appointments depending on availability. If you’re in a pinch, reach out and I’ll do my best to help!

Will my pet be muzzled?

Only if absolutely necessary—for safety. Some pets, especially when nervous or in unfamiliar situations, may react with fear-based behaviors like snapping or nipping. If your pet shows signs of high stress or potential for biting, I may recommend using a soft, fabric muzzle for their safety and mine. These muzzles are gentle, breathable, and do not cause pain. They’re designed for short-term use and can actually help some pets feel more secure during brief procedures like nail trims or sanitary care. I understand that many pet parents don’t love the idea of a muzzle and I get it! But it’s never about punishment. It’s simply a precaution to avoid a stressful situation turning into an unsafe one.

If you’re concerned about muzzle use, I’m happy to talk through it and explore options that make everyone comfortable. Your pet’s well-being is my top priority, and I always strive for a calm, respectful experience.
